About Smart Sindara

A curious, confident African girl explorer — and a whole world of songs, stories and learning built around her.

Who she is

Meet Smart Sindara

Smart Sindara is a confident 10-year-old African girl explorer who travels the world with her friends Brave Buchi and Aisha, sharing songs, stories and adventures that celebrate culture, kindness and curiosity.

The brand began in 2016 as a way to put African children at the centre of their own stories — to teach the 4Cs: Curiosity, Creativity, Confidence and Character. What started with a book character has grown into an animated channel, a book library, learning tools and school-outreach programmes.

Our mission

Raising children with the 4Cs

Every Smart Sindara story, book, song and video is built around four values we believe every child deserves to grow up with. Since 2016, the brand has created entertaining and educational African children's content — animated videos, songs, folktales, history, cultural adventures, confidence-building stories and positive Black representation — for children and families around the world.

  • 🔍Curiosity — ask questions, explore, never stop wondering.
  • 🎨Creativity — imagine, invent and express your unique self.
  • Confidence — stand tall; your voice matters everywhere.
  • 🌍Character — kindness, honesty, resilience and integrity.

Who it’s for

Families and educators everywhere

Smart Sindara is made for African children on the continent and in the diaspora — and for any family or classroom that wants joyful, culturally rich, positive content. Parents use it for songs and bedtime stories; teachers use it for circle time, brain breaks and lesson starters.

The audience of parents and children spans Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Nigeria and many more countries — united by a love of stories and a belief in raising bold, confident children.

The founder

Meet Tolu Tomori Adedeji

Tolu Tomori Adedeji is a passionate storyteller, wife, mom, and champion of African joy, curiosity and imagination.

She created Smart Sindara to inspire young children to dream big, ask questions and believe in the magic of who they are. Born and raised in Nigeria, Tolu founded Smart Sindara in 2016 to give Black children around the world a character who looked like them, spoke to their roots and inspired them to be bold. She grew up loving stories that made her laugh, think and wonder — and now she writes them for a new generation. She lives across two countries, Nigeria and Canada, carrying both worlds with her in every story she tells.

When she isn’t writing, Tolu is building businesses and brands. Over more than two decades as a marketing executive, she worked across global consumer companies, rising to Senior Marketing Director and serving as an Executive Director on boards — experience she now pours into growing Smart Sindara into books, songs, animated videos and community programmes that reach children across Nigeria, Canada, the UK and beyond.
